For years, lighting design accepted a compromise with the ceiling plane: fixtures were a necessary interruption. Miniaturised optics and zero-sightline extrusions are changing that, allowing light to be felt in a space while its source stays out of view.

This shifts the design question from which fixture to use toward which surface or texture the light should reveal. Pulling hardware back into the architecture lets the volume of a space, its materials, and its art define the room, rather than the equipment that lights it.

At IKYAM, this concealment is planned early, alongside ceiling details, joinery, and structural coordination, so the finished space stays as clean as the architecture intended.
